English Translated Monographs of Chinese Buddhist Texts

(漢傳佛典英譯)

When Buddhism came to China from India, a huge undertaking of translation of sutras took place and the resultant Chinese translated sutras clashed with the local culture and a distinct Chinese Buddhism with a variety of sects and schools unfolded thusly. Great masters transformed the essential Buddhist doctrines into treasures of writings through their meditation practices and realizations. In order to bring Chinese Buddhism to the world, CHIBS intends to set up an “English Translated Monographs of Chinese Buddhist Texts” project to translate the essence of Chinese Buddhist thoughts into English for international readers and scholars.
